Teaching is a great career option, especially in a
country like India where education is the basic
necessity for growth and modernization. If you have an

1. Acquire your relevant qualifications. Before
you go out seeking for a teacher job, you must
have the essential qualification(s). There are@
different qualifications required for teachers of
different levels. If you wish to become a teacher in
any of the reputed private or government schools
in India, you must have a degree such as the B.Ed
(Bachelor of Education) or other degrees
recommended for a teaching profession. For those
who want to become a professor or faculty in a
college or University, graduation is the minimum
qualification required. The basic qualification
requirement may also defer according to the
University or college.
★If you are not ready to get a degree, you can
start teaching after 10th or 12th education. A
10th or 12th passed candidate will possess
enough knowledge to teach others. However,
if you want to make a professional career in
teaching, you must have a degree in the field
of your choice.
2. Work on your basics. You must have strong
basic concepts of the particular subject you
wish to teach. If you were to be interested in
mathematics, you must be familiar within the
subject enough to teach others. Start working on
the basic and the conceptual knowledge of the
subject. This is the perfect way to prepare yourself
for your preferred occupation.
3. Decide on your purpose and work to fulfill it.
Obviously, there will be a reason why you
want to become a teacher. Most of the time, it is
for money and career promotions/opportunities,
but it can also relate to the volunteer teaching

4. Start searching for a teacher position. Once
you have completed your education and you
have a degree in the education field, you can start
looking for a job. You can easily get a job as a
teacher in a private school in India. But you may
not find it satisfactory due to less growth and
promotion options afterwards.. Another option is
the government teaching jobs. There are several
examinations conducted for the recruitment of
teachers in the state and central government
owned schools in India. Government teachers are
paid well and opportunities are higher.
5. Pass a teacher recruitment exam. Various
teacher recruitment examinations in India
include:
CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test)
RTET (Rajasthan Teacher Eligibility Test) and
other state TET exams are conducted by state
governments.
6. Become a teacher based on your qualification
★ After 10th class : If you want to become a
teacher after 10th class, you can try in a
private school. If you are looking for a more
professional option, you can go for a diploma
course like The Diploma in Education (D.Ed.),
which is a three-year course and is conducted
for 10th class, passed students. This course
will make you eligible to teach students at the
primary level.
★After 12th class : Even after 12th class, you
can get a job in any private school if you have
an expertise in a particular subject. For better
options, you can go for a course like the
Diploma in Early Childhood Care and
Education. BSTC is also an option for 12th
pass students who wish to become a teacher.
★The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) : B.Ed. is an
after-graduation degree course in India that
makes you eligible to teach students in
secondary and senior secondary schools. TET
(Teacher Eligibility Test) exams are conducted
individually by each state in India for the
admission of teachers. CTET exam is
conducted by the CBSE for recruitment of
teachers in the Central government owned
schools.
